Dust in the Wind: March 26, 2008 Youth Group News

Our weekly e-mail keeps transforming as I learn little tricks and admittedly give into my somewhat obsessive compulsive, perfectionist impulses. I think about how most things in life are a work-in-progress, most especially our spiritual lives. How much focus do I give to my own personal transformation? Do I stay up till 1:30 in the morning to work on it? Not usually. So much of our spiritual lives can be tucked away underneath a mask or a persona. Too often we let it go, let it get a little messy, like that one closet I throw everything into before company arrives. When we feel our anxiety rising, or can't quite put a finger on what may be bothering us, chances are the closet is full and ready to topple down on our heads next time we try to open it. Spring is here and it's almost time to open the windows and let the fresh air clean out our dusty dwelling places. Resurrection may be something profoundly theological and perplexing, but it may also be something as simple and everyday as taking time to clean out an old closet, to do some reorganizing of our values and habits, or just to open a window and let the wind blow the dust away.
